What is 5 years Vietnam visa exemption certificate
Certificate of 5-year Vietnam visa exemption is a document issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department allowing Vietnamese overseas and foreigners who are spouses and children of Vietnamese citizens or Vietnamese overseas to enter the country without visa.
The information in the certificate includes:
- Number of certificate;
- The holder of passport number;
- Date of issue;
- Issuing authority;
- Date of expiry, clarifying multiple entry within the 5 years duration;
- Limited days for each entry;
- Accompanying children (if any);
So it can be seen from the name that whoever owns the certificate can travel to Vietnam in 5 years without a Vietnam visa, and the certificate will expire at least 6 months before the passport’s expiry or relevant papers. But it is also noted that the certificate allows its holders to stay 180 at maximum for each entry and then can be extended for further 6 months.
Required Documents for Getting 5-year Vietnam Visa Exemption
It is mentioned above that the certificate of 5-year Vietnam visa exemption is applicable for both Vietnamese overseas; and spouses/ children of Vietnamese citizens or Vietnam overseas. As a result, the required documents for these two cases are also varied.
Vietnamese overseas apply for 5-year Vietnam visa free will need to prepare:
- 01 completed application form online for certificate of 5-year Vietnam visa, and print it out. Make sure that form is in letter size with the barcode;
- Original passport/ Residence permit issued by the local authority where the applicant is living/ Relevant papers which is valid for at least 6 months following the arrival date in Vietnam;
- 02 passport-sized photos (white background, newly taken within 6 months, front view, no glass, 2 ears visible);
- 01 certified copy or copy attached to originals of one of the following papers:
- Birth certificate;
- Certificate of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Decision for renunciation of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Certificate of loss of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Vietnamese passport (valid or invalid)
- Identity Card (valid or invalid);
- Latest voter’s card;
- Family Register Book;
- Documents issued by competent foreign authorities if they can prove that the person in question has original Vietnamese citizenship or of Vietnamese origin.
- If the applicants can’t show one of those documents, a guarantee issued by an overseas Vietnamese association from the country of residence, or a guarantee from a Vietnamese citizen can be used for replacement.
Foreigners who are spouse/ children of Vietnamese citizens or Vietnames overseas will prepare:
- 01 completed application form online for a certificate of 5-year Vietnam visa, and print it out. Make sure that form is in letter size with the barcode; In case the applicant is in Vietnam, please use the form NA09;
- Original passport (at least 6 months in validity following the arrival date in Vietnam;
- 02 passport-sized photos (white background, newly taken within 6 months, front view, no glass, 2 ears visible);
- 01 copy attached to originals of documents showing the relationship including:
- Birth Certificate;
- Marriage Certificate;
- Decision of Adoption;
- Certificate of relationship with father, mother, children;
- Other relevant papers;
Once all the documents are well prepare, please bring to submit at the authority as below:
- Those who live in Vietnam will apply at the Vietnam Immigration Department;
- Those who live abroad will apply at Overseas Vietnamses diplomatic missions and consulates;
